We bake up a batch of Gingerbread cookies for Santa every Christmas Eve. It’s a Christmas tradition I treasure (though trying to help Santa empty his heaping plate-full is certainly a challenge!)
Gingerbread Cookies. Just say that out loud and see what happens. I bet you can smell them baking…taste that amazing nothing-else-like-it flavor…and be instantly transported back in time to a distant and joyful Christmas memory. Or maybe it’s just me that happens to…but I don’t think so! 🙂
I thought it would be fun this year to change things up a bit… put a little twist in our old Gingerbread tradition, and I am so excited to share a few of the fantastic, creative takes on Gingerbread cookies I came across in my search.
Warning: These are NOT your mother’s gingerbread!
1. Simple Reindeer Cookies – The Bearfoot Baker
I knew the second I saw these Reindeer cookies that they would be appearing on Santa’s cookie plate this Christmas Eve. They are absolutely adorable – the Little Helpers are going to flip over helping bake up a batch!
2. Gingerbread Christmas Tree Cookies – Skinny Taste
These little Gingerbread Christmas Tree cookies are so incredibly simple that even the youngest of helpers can help, and school-aged kiddos can make these almost completely alone (with supervision/assistance of course!).
3. Gingerbread Cookies for Santa – Meet the Dubiens
These little reindeer gingerbread cookies are absolutely perfect for leaving out for Santa on Christmas Eve! So simple, yet so cute!
4. Gingerbread Men Cookie Sticks – Munchkin Munchies
Cookie sticks are quickly gaining popularity, and it’s easy to see why. These little Gingerbread Men Cookie Sticks would make a fantastic gingerbread party treat, or a fun lunchbox surprise! And we KNOW Santa would love ’em too!
5. Easy Gingerbread Cookie Recipe – Snap Creativity
This is such a wonderful gingerbread decorating idea! Even the tiniest of hands can help with the cookie cutter, then dip the little fellows in chocolate when they are all baked up and cooled down! Imagine the proud looks on their little faces when they present them as a teacher gift, or leave them out for Santa on Christmas Eve!
6. Snowman Gingerbread Cookies – created by Diane
We join our neighbor for her annual Christmas Cookie Decorating Party every December, and there is no shortage of creative (often hysterical) decorating ideas at work. I can’t wait to spring these little beauties on them this Christmas!
7. Gingerbread Men Sandwich Cookies – In Katrina’s Kitchen
8. Healthy Gingerbread Cookies Recipe – iFOODreal
This healthy little Gingerbread Cookie recipe is a great one to send in to those classroom Christmas parties. They are still fully decorated and adorable, but minus the heavy sugar and food dyes that teachers are so fond of :).
9. Gingerbread Heads – Bakerella
Boy these Gingerbread Head Cookies could have saved me the year my Gingerbread Man cookie cutter mysteriously walked away at the worst possible time, never to be seen again. What a brilliant idea!
And of course, anther sweet snowman cookie…
10. Jumbo Gingerbread Folk – Sweetapolita
Now wouldn’t this Giant Gingerbread cookie be kind of a fun thing for Santa to leave in a stocking? Not if there are dogs loose in the house though!
11. Tiny Gingerbread House – Not Martha
Who wouldn’t love a tiny gingerbread house that perches on the edge of your mug?!
12. Gingerbread Ice Cream Sandwiches – Taste of Home
Gingerbread is NOT just for Christmas! Although it just occurred to me…these would be AMAZING made with Chocolate gingerbread, and peppermint or candy cane ice-cream! Ooooohhhh…I think I’m on to something good…stay tuned:)
13. Muddy Reindeer Cookies (Chocolate-Dipped Gingerbread) – Sprinkle Bakes
Muddy Reindeer is exactly what we have around here most years. We tend to be warmish, wet and green rather than cold, crisp and white! So these will be a perfect Christmas neighbor gift for our local friends this year!
14. Gingerbread Men and Reindeer Cookies – QVC
No self respecting Christmas Gingerbread cookie list would be complete without at least one upside-down Reindeer Gingerbread Cookie! These are perfect for a cookie decorating station at a Christmas party for kids, or as a classroom party treat!
15. Gingerbread Men Coffee Cup Cookies – The Bearfoot Baker
These little fellows are a little bit more involved, but the payoff is huge! Imagine the grins on their faces if you walk out of the kitchen with a tray of hot cocoa adorned with hanging gingerbread men! Love it!
16. Chocolate Gingerbread Men (with Candy Canes) – Evermine Occasions
And, as so often happens, one absolutely incredible addition slid into view immediately after I finished writing this post. I simply can’t leave out these Chocolate Gingerbread Men holding Candy Canes! I have a feeling this will lead to one of those after-bedtime baking sessions to send off a lunchbox surprise in the morning!
I hope you have enjoyed a closer look at these amazing creations as much as I have! If you are looking for more Christmas Cookies Kids Can Make, you might want to look here or here!
